Has anyone read this book? I love this book. What do you think?
I read it only because it was required at College and the story annoyed the hell out of me,I couldn't stand his drama queen antics and the way he treated Rosinante was dispicable on the whole this book is abysmal.
I'm reading the Edith Grossman translation. It's easy to understand, but I also like to figure things out, so it took me a while to like and get used to an easier translation.
I'm Chapter fourty-eight of book two, and I love it. It's still good. It's over four hundred years. It's a classic, and I think It's beautiful.
I'I'm still on book two. I still love it, but I've been very busy.
I've attempted this book at least twice, in English and Spanish, and stopped in the middle both times because of time constraints. It's one of those weighty tomes that just begs for a rainy day to come so you can pick it up and dive in, which I'd love to do some time. I've read excerpts from it in literature textbooks, and adored those, so see no reason why I wouldn't enjoy the entire work. One has to remember that this is a satire, so the drama queen attitude someone upthread mensioned is intentional, and adds to the overall humor of Cervantes's masterpiece. If one can suspend disbelief long enough, one might find it a truly fascinating, even an enlightening, novel.
